Pixie Cottage Sketch Challenge 76!

Hiya Peeps!

I am now on the Pixie Cottage DT!   Thank you to Michelle, and all the other DT members who I hope... will be satisfied with my projects!  I must admit.  It's quite nerve wrecking starting out on a new DT.  You never know if you will live up to their expectations!

On to our project for this week!

As always, we are having a sketch challenge and a theme.  You can do one or the other OR both!  For my first challenge, I did the sketch part.  Our theme this week is Strawberries and Cream.  Hmmm.  Sound delicious doesn't it!!  I am hungry... almost dinner time.

Here is the sketch:

Now doesn't this look like a super fun sketch to follow??

Here is my card:

I have to confess!  I really struggle to get the right exposure when taking shots of my  cards.  There is either to much light or not enough.  That is so frustrating for me.  I have Photoshop Cs3.  With this photo I just clicked the auto correct the light.  But I swear.  The photo now looks kinda hmmm bright!  I used to have a light box, but even that didn't really work for me.  I suppose I'll get there!  Any tips anyone can offer?

Well thank you for looking, and please head on over to our challenge!

Hugs,
Wendy

Elisabeth Bell BLOG HOP

Hiya Peeps!

Welcome to our Blog Hop.  We are celebrating the new release of Curly Locks Kiki!  Isn't she just absolutely adorable!  Who wouldn't want to head on over to Elisabeth Bell's Digital Collection and get her immediately!?
Here is the image:

I had super fun coloring her!  When I looked at this image, I immediately got a Vintage idea for a card.  I do admit that patience was a must with this one.  I used Crackle Accents on the picture, and had to wait for ages for it to dry completely!  It wasn't really that long, but it felt like it.  It took forever to cover the whole image.  I think my Accents might have been exposed to air too long, 'cause it's really thick and I struggled to spread it evenly.  After a while I just squeezed out a big lot and spread it with a paint brush!  Love the effect, not trying it again soon.

If you hoped on over from Penni's Blog, you're in the right place!

Thank you so much for joining our HOP.  Please Hop on over too Kiki's blog!

Happy Hopping!

My Prince

Hiya Peeps!

I hope you've all had a super relaxing, whilst crafting!, weekend.  I had a great weekend.  Were able to catch up on all my DT duties for the next few weeks so phew!

Let me tell you.  I have the 2 most adorable ginger cats.  They are 9 months old now.  I got them, well, I actually called it rescued them, when they were just 4 weeks old.  The people who I got them from, well let me just say it's the sort of people you hear about on the news, who really is trying to do good with having a 1000 pets, but really are torturing them.  These people had 3 female cats who gave birth within a week or so.  The house, no person can live there.  The house is clean, don't get me wrong, but the stench.  It reeks of urine and cat litter, and seriously, you go in and out as fast as possible.  The house itself has been in the market for roughly 2 years now, but no one will ever buy it cause you would have to break out all the floors and grouting and stuff and redo it.  The stench will never leave otherwise!  Anyhow.  Both babies had severe eye infection, and sneezed a lot.  I got them vaccinated, dewormed, fixed up their eyes with some serious cat eye fixer meds, and the Vet also gave me some antibiotics for them to use for 2 weeks.  I also fed them some milk via a syringe.  So cute.  So these 2 are just adorable, and hiding otherwise I would post a new picture of them.  This one of them, roughly 6 weeks old will have to do for now!

The one - named Phoenix - is a full on ginger.  He is big, has strong claws, and really eats a lot.  The other - Onyx, guess where he got his name... - is very small build, almost half of his brother, dark ginger, sweetest little cat ever!  So Friday when I got home after work, I couldn't find my 3yo anywhere.  Eventually I found him in my room, and cream everywhere.  About half an hour later, I found Onyx.......covered in cream..... The cream was everywhere, in his ears, eyes, everywhere!  And not a little, the whole jar it seemed!  I gave the kitty a quick bath to get rid of most.  Yesterday, I had to lock Phoenix, the big one, in a room.  He keeps on attacking poor little Onyx who has been through so much!  He chases him away from their food, it's almost cruel!  I figured it's because he smell like cream, and not like the cat he knows!  Today, Onyx looks better.  His fur is still very hmmm... oily, but looks better than yesterday.  He still smells so nice and fresh too!!  His brother it also seems is leaving him alone today!

Onto my card!  I used Elisabeth Bell's - My Prince digi.  I started out making this card for a friend, who celebrated her 5th Wedding anniversary.  She wanted an anniversary card FOR her husband.  Halfway through, my husband said this is so not a card for a man.  So I stopped and made another one... I finished this one yesterday, and added flowers and glitter.  So now I suppose it's really a glittery girly card!  Speaking of Elisabeth!  We are having our monthly blog hop on the 17th of June for the new release.  You don't want to miss this one!  Seriously wonderful new image!  You will find the hop - on the 17th of course - HERE.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Window Box Card Tutorial

Hiya Peeps!

Ok,  so here goes my first ever attempt at an online tutorial!  Please be kind J

 TEMPLATE A

TEMPLATE B

These templates are drawn on scale.... or very close to scale.
Supplies needed:
5.5 x 7.5” Card Stock x 3
Bone folder
Scoreboard
Cutter
Double sided tissue tape / glue
Kraft Knife
Ruler
Glossy Accents

1.        1st piece of CS.  Score all the score lines.  Score lines to be scored as follows
a.       Template A – 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7”
2.        Make cross cut as shown with red lines in Template A.
3.       Fold the following score lines – 0.5,1, 1.5, 6, 6.5, 7” – all in the same direction.
4.        Fold all 4 Triangular's back on blue score line
5.        Fold all 4 Triangular’s forward on pink score line                                -              Set aside for now             -
6.       2nd  and 3rd piece of CS.  Score all the score lines.  Score lines to be scored as follows
a.       Template B – 0.5, 1, 6.5, 7”
7.       Fold all the score lines in same directions
8.       Cut 3rd CS in half – on 7.5” side at 3.75”
9.       You now have a left & right door.   Cut panel out for acetate.  Glue acetate with glossy accents.
10.   Now for the tricky part that’s really not that tricky:
11.   2nd  CS : Adhere tape/glue as indicated
12.   Glue Template B to Template A where indicated on Template A.  This should be done on the back side of the frame to form frame side and bottom.  Also do on opposite side.
13.   Position both doors on frame top so that score lines of doors and frame line up
14.   Tape doors on frame as indicated by tape/glue on Template A
15.   Now you have a little box with both ends open.  Glue, tuck it in and TA DA.

O my word.  I so hope that this makes sense.  My apologies.  English is not my first language, so I had to think hard as to which word would adequately describe what I meant!

And yes I know!!  Next time I’ll take step by step pictures!!  I am doing this tutorial whilst at work!  Boss would so not love me if I sat here with my CS, Camera etc.!!
Please let me know if you struggle.  I tried to make Template A self explanatory.

Hugs,
Wendy

Window Box Card

Hiya Peeps!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  I had a super crafty weekend.  Friday I made 2 CAS cards AND a little book where I store my spellbinders.  I will post some pics later!  Oh yes, and this was all done after 8pm!  Saturday I spend the day making 10 more CAS cards, and today, well today I spend making this card.  A dear friend of mine send me a template for a very similar type of "box" bottom.  I swear, I took one look at it and knew I didn't have the patience to make it.  You have to have at least 2 PhD's and have to be - and this is a requirement in order to make it - a full time Rocket Scientist with at least 30 - 40 years under your belt.  I then went on search for another tutorial to make the bottom.  I came across Norma, from www.frommycraftroom.blogspot.com, who had a link to Stempeleinmaleins frame card tutorial.  I made it a few times, her directions are really super.  One thing I didn't like was the fact that the sides were open.  I wanted to make a little box that doubles up as a card.  So I took her tutorial, which you can find HERE, and altered it quite a bit.

Here is my card:

I wanted to do a quick tutorial on how I made this, but after running through the steps, realized my template needs some more work.  I will do a post on the tutorial later in the week!  So please check back!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

2.  Cute Card Thursday - Embellish it
3.  Dutch Dare - Inspirational

Rachel, Little Angel.....AGAIN!

Hiya Peeps!

How is the weather in the rest of the world?  Let me tell you, I am dying of cold here in what is supposed to be Sunny South Africa.  As winter is in full swing here, things are freezing up!  I always thought that I am definetely a winter person, but I am reconsidering that!  I am always cold, and I hate that.  I have been walking around the past 2 weeks looking like an eskimo.  It's so frustrating!

Well!  It's the start of the weekend and I hope you all have a super crafty one!  Today I am going to spend the day making some CAS card.  I made 2 last night in like 30 minutes, so I figured I could really make a lot in 1 day!

Onto my card.  I used sweet Rachel, Little Angel...Again!  I saw a video of someone coloring her on youtube a while back, and since then really craved this little darling.  I have some 20 colored Rachel's already.  I figured, if I colored her a lot, I'll get her out of my system.  I'm yet to get there....

Thank you all for looking.  Please remember to head on over do our challenge blog : http://elisabethbellsworldchallengeblog.blogspot.com/ and enter our Easle card challenge!

Wendy
